Quick Snap
Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Project Brief
Create a two-to-four spot-color package for a common item you own, and create your own dieline file.
Brand Goal
Quick Snap is a modern version of the old disposable cameras from the late 80s/early 90s. It’s a simple, modern, portable digital camera. All you have to do is pull it out quick and snap a pic.
Research
My research included looking at the process of dieline cuts and why they’re made in certain shapes. I looked for ways to use no glue to make it more feasible with an 11x17 sheet of cardstock paper. I looked at the process of spot coloring and the importance of using the correct color process for printing. The brand identity was heavily inspired by Memphis-style colors and a racecar aesthetic, hence the name “Quick Snap.”
Process
I first found what dieline shape I was going to use and then measured the digital camera to get the right dimensions. After two prototypes, I made final adjustments for the final print using only one sheet of cardstock paper and no glue.
Reflection
Through this project, I learned the process of creating a dieline file and the process of spot-color printing. It was very fun making the artwork and bringing back an old product concept (disposable cameras) into a modern setting. My execution was great on all aspects of this project, with it being easily reproduced without any extra materials.
